M+Y’s work on the NMT Data Center includes a highly efficient In-Row Cooling System, state-of-the-art fire detection and suppression systems, redundant power and back-up power systems, a robust exterior rain screen envelope, security, parking, and access control. The most significant design challenge was in providing the new site infrastructure, which includes a medium voltage electrical service, a new sanitary sewer service, domestic water, and a critical tie in to the campus fiber backbone. The design team met with the NMT technology staff to understand the intricacies of the processes and workflows being demanded by the Data Center. In some cases, these processes worked around inefficiencies in the old facility, and in other cases, there was opportunity for improvement to be newly built in.
